TBR: Please tantalize us with a story blurb or excerpt.
Kim: I have both for you today. I hope you enjoy the blurb and excerpt.

BLURB
Florida investigative reporter, Whitney Steel, has lived in the shadow of her legendary father long enough. To prove herself she needs to find the “Big” story.
She found it.
Now it may kill her.
After Whitney receives a lead pointing to the world's first cloned human, now a small child, she vows to unravel the truth. However, sifting through the facts proves to have dangerous results, including death threats and murder.
When Whitney is nearly killed, but is saved by undercover FBI Special Agent, Blake Neely, he refuses to let her get in the way of his own objective—at least not right away.
Caught in a lethal game between a billionaire obsessed with genetic perfection, his hit man’s thirst for retribution, and a Colombian drug lord fresh out of prison determined to make Blake pay for his twin brother’s death over a decade ago...
Can they save an innocent child before it’s too late?
Faced with tough choices, with deadly consequences for many—Whitney soon realizes that sometimes a story becomes more than just a story.

Excerpt
Mason Bailey gulped down his third Glenlivet. “I didn’t kill her.”
How many times had Whitney Steel heard those words? Dozens. But never from the mouth of a United States senator. For all she cared, the man could drink himself to Mars, but not until she got what she’d come for. An exclusive.
Under the awning shading the Pink Flamingo Club’s patio, she took a sip of her lime daiquiri, and couldn’t help notice the way the mid-afternoon sunlight brutally magnified every line on Mason’s tanned face.
“Of all the reporters in Panama City, let alone Florida, why me? We cut our ties years ago.” And our losses, she wanted to say, but didn’t.
“I know I can trust you.” His gaze darted across the street then back to her. “Besides, we were married once. That should count for something.”
Whitney straightened. Anger coiled in the pit of her stomach. “Give me a break. For a year and a half, I thought we were married. Too bad your girlfriends didn’t know about our little legal arrangement.” Especially, your twenty something assistant.
“Damn it, Whitney. I didn’t ask you here to rehash our past.” He yanked a monogrammed handkerchief from his jacket pocket and dabbed the sweat from his forehead. “I need your help. I know why Carmen Lacey was murdered.”
Her eyes widened. Now they were getting somewhere. “You have my full attention. Are we on the record?”
Mason shoved his empty glass aside. “Yes.”
Her heart thumped with anticipation. This story would be the topic du jour for months. Her ratings at WBNN-TV would soar, and finally her colleagues would take notice and treat her with the professional respect she deserved.
For the past twelve years, her colleagues said she’d had a free ride because of her father, an award winning war correspondent, and her ex-husband’s political connections. This time she’d prove them wrong.
She rummaged through her leather bag, placed her digital voice recorder on the table and gave the record button a firm push. “For the record, Senator Bailey, did you kill Carmen Lacey?”
“No.” He leaned back in the chair and loosened his pinstriped tie. “It’s true. I was the last person to see her alive. But there’s more to this than you think.”
Brown eyes that once set her heart hammering now conveyed a chilling, hollow look. Was it guilt? Desperation?
No. Fear.
Uneasiness slid down her spine. She stopped the recorder. “Mason, you’re scaring me. What the hell is going on? It’s been over three years since we last spoke. Then, out of the blue, you beg me to meet with you today. I know the police don’t believe you killed that woman.”
“But do you, Whitney? Do you believe I killed her? I need to know. It’s important.”
Stunned by the urgency in his voice, she answered carefully. “Of course not.
You’re many things, but you’re not a killer.”
“Thank you. That means a lot to me.” He reached for his empty glass and tapped his chunky gold ring against the side.
Whitney turned the recorder on again.
“Carmen was a scientist working for a biotech company in Nevada. ShawBioGen. Heard of it?”
“Who hasn’t? They were one of the first to clone animals in the eighties. Caused quite a stir.
But I don't understand. What does that have to do with Carmen’s death?”
He opened his mouth to answer.
The large window behind them dividing the patio from the main restaurant exploded...

TBR: What inspired you to write about the theme?
Kim: The story evolved after Clonaid (a company founded by the religious sect called the Raelians which views cloning as the first step in achieving immortality) announced the birth of Eve, the “first human clone” in 2002 using the similar technique to clone, Dolly the Sheep. About 160 nations in the world have yet to outlaw the birth of human clones and others are allowing the creation of human clones as long as they are not put into a woman’s womb (how do we know they aren't implanted?), add a kick-ass investigative reporter, and thus, REFLECTION was born.

TBR: Are you a plotter or pantser?
Kim: I'm a plotter. I setup a storyboard in a spreadsheet and plot out as much of a story as possible. Then I color code each plot line, usually pink for romance, blue for the main plot and green for the subplot. This way I can see if I have any holes in my plot.

TBR: Do you have a favorite quote you’d like to share?
Kim: My favorite quote in REFLECTION is...

He ploughed his fingers through his wet hair and smiled again. “Face it, I’m
growing on you.”
She was. No way would she give him the satisfaction. Stay focused. Get the
story. Walk away. “Yeah, like mold.”

TBR: Did any music inspire your book? Do you have a playlist?
Kim: Yes! I have to have some sort of music playing. For REFLECTION, I listened to; Barry White, Bon Jovi, David Bowie, Eagles, Guns N Roses and Eminem. God, I'm showing my age.

TBR: Which of your characters would you most/least like to invite to dinner, and why?
Kim: George Raines for sure. He's WBNN-TV’s assignment editor, Whitney Steel's (heroine) co-worker and father-like figure. George's character is heart-warming and kind and quirky. I think he'd make a very interesting and entertaining dinner guest.

TBR: While creating your books, what was one of the most surprising things you learned?
Kim: The most surprising thing I've learned while creating my books is how many crazy ideas I have yet to write about. I actually started an idea folder while writing REFLECTION.

TBR: What's next for you?
Kim: I'm presently working on the Retribution, the sequel to Reflection which will be available in late 2013. I'm also writing the first book of a four book supernatural mystery series, Deadly Shadow – The Assassin Chronicles.

TBR: What’s the most challenging aspect of writing? Most rewarding?
Kim: The most challenging aspect of writing for me is finishing the first draft. I have  an internal editor that will not shut off.  Most rewarding?  Finally finishing the first draft.

TBR: Who are some of your favorite authors and books? What are you reading now?
Kim: Oh, there are so many--but I'm an old-school-kind-of-girl. Harold Robbins (Never Love a Stranger), Jackie Collins (Lucky), and Sydney Sheldon (Master of the Game) top my list. Iris Johansen, Karen Slaughter, Michael Connelly and James Patterson are also some of my favorite authors. One of my favorite books is Waiting Wives: The Story of Schilling Manor, Home Front to the Vietnam War by Donna Moreau. Presently, I'm reading Burn in Hell, A Jake Carrington Mystery by Marian Lanouette.

TBR: Where can readers find you on the web?
Kim: I have a web site, blog and Facebook Fan Page.
TBR: Is there anything you’d like to ask our readers?
Kim: Do you read Romantic Suspense?  What do you love about the genre? Is it the suspense, the romance, or both?

TBR: Readers, Kim Cresswell will give away an eBook copy of REFLECTION (choice of .pdf, epub for Nook/Sony, .prc for Kindle or HTML) to one lucky commenter. She'll pick a winner on February 9th and announce the winner here. Be sure to leave your email address so she can contact you.

Thanks for visiting TBR, Kim. All the best to you.

TBR welcomes Sherry Gloag

TBR: Welcome to TBR, Sherry Gloag. Will you share a little bit about yourself?
Sherry: I live in the beautiful English county of Norfolk which is part of East Anglia. The nearby coast is the only part of the east coast of Britain that faces west, so we get spectacular sunsets. I love the countryside and find it become the ‘silent character’ in my stories. I love reading, and gardening. Walking is a relaxation for me and a time to mull over plots and hold character interviews. Another form and important form of relaxation is my crystal craft work which then opens up the world of craft fairs from spring through to late autumn/fall.

TBR: Tell us about Vidal's Honor and where it's available.
Sherry: Vidal’s Honor, published by Astraea Press is my 7th published book, but only my second Regency romantic suspense. I surprised myself by enjoying the vast amount of research I had to undertake and came up with some odd little revelations, like the European continent have weather records going back more than a hundred years more than the English. And since the weather played a fairly important part in Vidal’s Honor, that nugget of omission created quite a set-back for a while, until I worked my round it in one particular scene. *grin* Vidal’s Honor was a real challenge to write and I am delighted that it has been a best seller in Amazon’s top 100 in the USA for nearly eight weeks, and in UK, off and on, for twelve weeks now.

TBR: Please tantalize us with a story blurb or excerpt.
Sherry: Vidal’s Honor opening scene, and excerpt, is set just hours before the battle of Salamanca, Spain in July 1812, which in turn sets in motion all the ensuing events in the story.

Tagline:
Which will Honor lose first? Her head or her heart?

Blurb:
When plunged into a world of spies, agents and espionage during the Peninsula wars, Honor, Lady Beaumont, flees for her life when the French capture her husband at Salamanca, and relies on his batman to arrange her safe passage back to England.
Viscount Charles Vidal is ordered by Robert Dumas, the First Lord of the Admiralty, to travel to Spain and escort the only woman he’s ever loved, Lord Devlin Beaumont’s widow back home before the French discover her whereabouts.
Their journey is fraught by danger, least of all knowing whether they are surrounded by friends or foe. Will they survive long enough to explore the possibility of a future together or will whispers of treason be enough to see Honor dispatched to Tyburn first?

Excerpt:
While Vidal joked with his cousin, the viscount scanned the room. The smell of fine wine, whiskey and cigar smoke blended into a rich aroma that was as much a part of Whites as the card games, the background chatter, and outbreaks of lewd laughter from the younger members of the club.
One member in particular interested Vidal tonight, and he watched Robert Dundas, second Viscount Melville, and First Lord of the Admiralty, take leave of his friends and head in his direction.
He wondered why the man spent the best part of the night watching his every move, and paused in the act of fobbing his snuff box while he waited for the viscount to join him.
“Take a walk with me?” Although couched as a question, Vidal noted the quiet steel of command in the other man’s voice. Dundas laid a hand on his arm; a companionable gesture for anyone interested enough to observe the two men leaving the club together. “I believe I live not far beyond your own house. I’d appreciate your company, and this is not the place for such a discussion. ”
With an indolent twist of the wrist Vidal returned the modish lacquered box, unopened, to his pocket and nodded agreement. A man’s club was no setting for private conversation, and it was plain the man wanted to talk about something away from flapping ears.
Together they strolled across the room stopping to take leave of several mutual friends.

TBR: What inspired you to write about the theme?
Sherry: I grew up reading the renowned British Regency romance author, Georgette Heyer and always hankered at having a go one day. Now I have two Regency stories that came out within a month of each other. I still find it hard to believe!

TBR: Are you a plotter or pantser?
Sherry: Pantser

TBR: How do you develop your characters?
Sherry: I don’t, they are in charge.

TBR: Do you have a favorite quote you’d like to share?
Sherry: You can fix a bad page, but you can’t fix a blank one. Attributed to Nora Roberts.

TBR: Did any music inspire your book? Do you have a playlist?
Sherry: NO, I don’t  usually play music while writing.

TBR: While creating your books, what was one of the most surprising things you learned?
Sherry: That I could and do enjoy the research.

TBR: Tease us with one little thing about your fictional world that makes it different from others.
Sherry: In Vidal’s Honor, while they are the usual setbacks, betrayals and black moments, Honor, Lady Beaumont is not a perfect heroine. While she is strong, she also has many weaknesses, as does my hero, Charles Vidal. Vidal’s Honor takes place while my hero and heroine are fleeing across the Spanish Pyrenees and into French enemy territory in a bid to reach England safely.

TBR: What's next for you?
Sherry: I am working on an unexpected follow-on story from Vidal’s Honor, featuring Juan and Consuela who are the Spanish guides helping Honor and Vidal to escape from Spain. I am also working on two novellas relating to my Gasquet Princes series. And since receiving a book for Christmas from my sister I am now working on a now project of several short stories sharing a common theme.

TBR: Any other published works?
Sherry: Apart form Vidal’s Honor, I have six more published stories. The Wild Rose Press published my first novel, The Brat. eTreasures published my first Rom Com Valentine novella The Wrong Target, while Black Opal Books published my second novel Duty Calls.  Astraea Press also published the first two novellas in my Gasquet princes series. From Now Until Forever and His Chosen Bride.  Finally Sweet Cravings Publishing brought out my first Regency novel, No Job For a Woman.  All are still available in e-format and The Brat, Duty Calls, and No Job For a Woman are also out in paperback.

TBR: What’s the most challenging aspect of writing? Most rewarding?
Sherry: Sometimes the writing itself, but always the promotional side of the business.

TBR: What’s the most interesting comment you have received about your books?
Sherry: Until I began receiving readers’ feedback I’d never considered my stories as suspense, but almost all of them are considered as such by my reders.  That was a big learning curve for me J

TBR: Where can readers find you on the web?
Sherry: My Website: http://www.sherrygloag.com
+ Goodreads, LinkedIn and Google+

TBR: Is there anything you’d like to ask our readers?
Sherry: Who is your favourite Regency character, and why?

TBR: Readers, Sherry will give away 1 pdf copy of Vidal’s Honor to one luck commenter to one lucky commenter. She'll pick a winner and announce the winner here. Be sure to leave your email address so she can contact you.

Thanks for visiting TBR, Sherry. All the best to you.

Book Spotlight: Frost by Taryn Kincaid

Frost
by Taryn Kincaid
Releasing today

BLURB
Dagney Night, a sought-after succubus, is no stranger to blazing hot sex. But as Valentine’s Day approaches, she longs for something more. When oddly erotic paintings arrive for display at her art gallery, arousing everyone who views them, she wonders about the mysterious artist who created the works.
Maxwell Raines, a fire-sex demon, lives a life of solitude and seclusion behind the walls of his compound at Sleepy Hollow, channeling his lustful impulses into his art—until his muse deserts him and his temperature rises past the danger point. He needs sex. Now.
When Madame Evangeline arranges a torrid Valentine’s 1Night Stand for them, will the flames of their encounter be too hot to handle?

EXCERPT
Dagney followed her sister’s glance, and her heart flipped like a gymnast unable to nail a vault. Darkness swathed the gallery with the exception of the lights above or below each of the paintings. The large man emerging from the shadows held her rapt. Waves of pure, unadulterated lust smacked her with such force she didn’t even see Lily and Campbell leave. The blast of raw desire crumpled her to the floor. Her gaze remained riveted on the tall hunk of ferocious male stalking toward her, radiating undiluted carnality. He set something carefully on the floor and grasped her by the elbows, his touch surprisingly gentle when he lifted her to her feet.
“I’m Maxwell Raines.”
Yeah. No kidding. Who else could a guy so hot, so studly, possibly be?
She told herself not to swoon. Ordered herself not to swoon. But, Goddess, that rumbling voice. More potent than a train barreling over the tracks. And he smelled so good. Sinfully masculine. A bit of musk, a bite of pine, an essence of dark, smoky nights. Sexy scents. Reminiscent of tangled satin sheets that had been given a good work-out.
Her legs turned to rubber, and she doubted they’d support her on their own. She’d be mortified if he’d have to scrape her puddled body up again. But he hadn’t yet relaxed his grip. Could she bullshit her way through the meeting without collapsing? “You’re late,” she said.
“I’m never late.”
“Well, the party’s over, Mr. Raines.” She waved a hand around the empty room.
“Depends on your perspective.”
“You’re big on perspective, are you?”
“I’m a painter.” A brief shrug accompanied his blunt words. “Obvious connection.”
“Right. But as you can see, everyone’s left.”
“You haven’t.” He gazed down at her, a black brow flaring. “And you’re what I’m here for.”
