TBR welcomes Renee Field

TBR: TBR is happy to present Renee Field. Will you share a little bit about yourself, Renee?
Renee:  Hi I’m a romance author who first fell in love reading the genre when I was in my late twenties and then decided I wanted to write romance. I live in Nova Scotia, Canada and love my view of the Atlantic Ocean.

TBR: Tell us about Rapture and where it's available.
Renee: Rapture is the first romance book I wrote. It’s a sensual contemporary paranormal that touches on my love of the sea.
Available at Amazon and Smashwords

TBR: Please tantalize us with a story blurb or excerpt.
Renee: Mermen aren't real. That's what biologist Jamie Winters thinks until a gorgeous Greek god enters her life and drowns her, forcing her to rapture into a Siren. Used to logic, she can't quite come to terms with Seth Cutter's magical undersea realm or the fact that he's a macho Titan.
Being a Siren causes Jamie's hormones to go into overdrive, which isn't good when she realizes that's exactly what Seth was hoping for. Sure, the sex is out of this world, but she's not about to change her character.
As Prince of the North Seas, Seth is used to having his commands followed. A decade of exile on land was easier than having to deal with the sexy-as-sin Siren who tips the scales of his existence and doesn't listen to one word he says.
They must overcome their prejudices to recover stolen relics that are key to the undersea kingdom, stop a deadly plague and destroy an underwater diva who wants to rule the roost. Are they two souls destined for each other or will the Fates decide otherwise? Seth knows firsthand, Fate can be a bitch.
TBR: What inspired you to write about the theme?
Renee: I grew up in a small fishing community with the Atlantic Ocean as my background and without myths and books I’m sure I would have gone insane.

TBR: Are you a plotter or pantser?
Renee: OMG. I’m such a pantser and I hate it. I’ve plotted out a few books but will admit to always going off track. Now, I’ve learned to have faith in my muse.

TBR: Which of your characters would you most/least like to invite to dinner, and why?
Renee: I would like to invite Seth to dinner and get him to tell me all about his world. The sea is only about a quarter charted and we actually know more about the moon than our own oceans. I am a believer in merpeople but that’s another story I’ll share with my children first.

TBR: While creating your books, what was one of the most surprising things you learned?
Renee: I learned that I really love to write and finally finishing my first book only made me want to write more.

TBR: Tease us with one little thing about your fictional world that makes it different from others.
Renee: In my fictional world Titans also have to carry their offspring like the Sirens. I was pregnant when I wrote this book so readers will understand why I added that element.

TBR: What's next for you?
Renee: Finishing book two, which will showcase Seth’s twin brother Darius. It’s almost done so I’m planning to have it come out in 2012.

TBR: Any other published works?
Renee: In keeping in line with my mermaid theme I have a spicy contemporary paranormal called Claiming Poseidon’s Daughter debuting with HQN’s Spice Briefs in October 2012.

TBR: What’s the most challenging aspect of writing? Most rewarding?
Renee: Juggling my commitments with my four children is very challenging but it’s so rewarding to finish a book.

TBR: Is there anything you’d like to ask our readers?
Renee: What other fairy tales would readers like to see reworked into a modern day story?

TBR: Readers, Renee is giving away a copy of Rapture to a random commenter... so start commenting. She'll pick a winner and announce the winner here.

Thanks so much for visiting TBR, Renee.
