TBR welcomes Soraya Lane

TBR: Welcome to TBR, Soraya. Will you share a little bit about yourself?
Soraya: Hi! I live on the other side of the world in New Zealand, on a small farm with my husband, toddler boy, and quite a few animals…

TBR: Tell us about Change and where it's available.
Soraya: Change is my debut young adult paranormal romance. It’s currently only available as a kindle ebook from Amazon, and I’m thrilled to share that it’s spent most of the past 6 weeks in the top 100 Teen Love & Romance category.

TBR: Please tantalize us with a story blurb or excerpt.
Soraya:
When her twin sister dies of a mysterious heart condition, Riley King is sent to her grandma’s ranch. But instead of the isolation she’s been aching for, she learns of a family secret that’s been deliberately kept from her, until now.
As if finding out she’s actually a leopard wasn't enough shock for one vacation, Riley meets Hunter Logan … the guy she’s promised to. For life. But Riley has no intention of being told what to do by anyone, certainly not some stubborn, dominant shifter. Even if he can make her purr, her claws are slicing out. Until Riley realizes that not fulfilling her destiny would commit her sister to a life on the other side without her.

TBR: What inspired you to write about the theme?
Soraya: I love reading YA books, as well as paranormal stories, so I wanted to try writing something completely different that I loved. I usually write contemporary romance for adults, for Harlequin Mills & Boon, so this was a really exciting challenge.

TBR: Are you a plotter or pantser?
Soraya: I try really hard to be a plotter sometimes, but I’m 100% a pantser!

TBR: Did any music inspire your book? Do you have a playlist?
Soraya: For this book, I listened to John Mayer’s version of Free Fallin’ over and over and over again!!

TBR: Tease us with one little thing about your fictional world that makes it different from others.
Soraya: The fictional world in this story is about leopard shifters, and unlike real leopards they live in a pack, and they can change their spots/colour to blend in with their environment if they need to.

TBR: What's next for you?
Soraya: I’m busy writing for Harlequin Romance, and I’ve also just released my first self-published contemporary romance – The Navy SEAL’s Promise. But that book is definitely adults only!

TBR: Any other published works?
Soraya: Right now, I have the Navy SEAL’s Promise available as a kindle ebook on Amazon, and my next Harlequin Romance, The Soldier’s Sweetheart, will be released in ebook and paperback January 2013.

TBR: What’s the most challenging aspect of writing? Most rewarding?
Soraya: The most challenging part is often just sitting down to write. With a day job, family, and lots of animals to care for, finding uninterrupted time is the most difficult thing for me.

TBR: What’s the most interesting comment you have received about your books?
Soraya: I’ve had a lot of people ask me for the sequel! Which I am writing as fast as I can J

TBR: Who are some of your favorite authors and books? What are you reading now?
Soraya: I’m trying to read 50 Shades of Grey at the moment, but the first chapter hasn’t really caught my attention yet, so I might just skip to the juicy stuff! We’re going on vacation to Australia next month, and I’ve saved books by my favorite authors to take – Nalini Singh, James Patterson & Harlan Coben. The last two are great because my husband and I can both read them J

TBR: Where can readers find you on the web?
Soraya:  My website is updated regularly, www.sorayalane.com and I’m usually lurking on twitter, @Soraya_Lane.

TBR: Is there anything you’d like to ask our readers?
Soraya: I’d like to know what your favorite paranormal themes are in either books or movies. Vampires, shifters, angels… what?

TBR: Readers, Soraya will give away a copy of Change to one lucky commenter.. You must be able to receive it as a gift from amazon.com (which she believes is applicable to residents in the US, Canada, NZ, Australia, Fiji & Asia). She’d also appreciate you posting a review on Amazon or Goodreads after you’ve read it J She'll pick a winner and announce the winner here. Be sure to leave your email address so she can contact you.

Thanks for visiting TBR, Soraya. Best of luck to you.
