  5. Some call more of my books horror than I do. The only book of mine published as horror is Hugger Doll, though I did do a collection of my dark tales as an ebook titled Ten Past Midnight. Whiskey Creek Press has two dark tales in Vol 9 of their Whiskey Shots. I grew up reading H.P. Lovecraft so one of those is a take-off on his sea people tales. Also read all of A. Merritt and, of course, the grand master, E. A. Poe. My website www.JaneToombs.com has buy links for all of these and some are also on Amazon. Jane, who enjoys the dark side.

  9. I didn't read horror novels for years when my kids were growing up. Too scary for me, but now I'm back to loving them. So many now to add to my list.

  11. Cades Cove by Aiden James

  12. Apocalypstick by Greg Carrico

Apocalypstick contains two deliciously dark short stories: Finding Home, a creepy supernatural horror, and Killing Tiffany Hudson, a post-apocalyptic tale of two genetically modified people who must decide the fate of humanity.

    Finding Home

If you have ever glanced at a stranger in the grocery store, and wondered what their life must be like, and then followed them home to peek at them through their plantation blinds, and then slipped through that unlocked sliding door at night just to look around; if you stood next to their bed to watch over them while they slept, and thought I could live this life, then please seek help. Weirdo.

But on your way to the hospital (or the police station), walk a few steps in the shoes of a troubled man on a quest for a new home and a new life, while he deals with a few disturbing personal issues. Finding Home is a short paranormal horror story that lets you test-drive the lives of strangers in a perfectly legal, non-creepy way.

    Killing Tiffany Hudson

Is there any line you wouldn't cross to save the life of a loved one? Is there any price you wouldn't pay? A young man battles with the consequences of his answers to these questions, in this post-apocalyptic short story, where right masquerades as wrong, weakness as strength, and deadly monsters as... camels? Well, sometimes, yes.

  14. Be Not Afraid, a horror story with a Christian twist, by K.R. Morrison

War is imminent. Evil has overtaken the world, although the world does not know or accept it. Demons and divinities are myths to a thinking, logical society. God Himself must intervene on the behalf of that minority who still love Him, and a war is brewing that will decide supremacy.

God's subjects must retain their faith in the midst of every evil the Enemy can throw at them. Lydia, because of her strong faith, is particularly seized upon by Vlad, a demonic vampire. He brings her to the brink of despair, which only causes her to cling more tightly to her faith in her Savior. When she is miraculously taken from Vlad's imprisonment, Vlad finds and then harasses her friends and family--unaware of the saints and angels who are gearing up for a counterattack against him and his kind.

The faithful are tested to the ends of their abilities. Will they be able to stand fast against the power of Death, remembering that God is with them? Or will the Father of Lies rise triumphant?
