TBR: Please tantalize us with a story blurb or excerpt.
LaVerne: Eboni Stiles thought Simon Blackcat was a walking, talking mass of perfectly packaged testosterone trouble. She made it a point to stay as far away from his as possible. Especially after that one night, she lost her mind and slept with him.
After she witnessed a murder, Simon’s the only man who can protect her from the danger hunting her. But while hiding out on a mountain top alone with him, who’s going to protect her heart?
An evening with Eboni was not enough for Simon, not even close. So when Eboni’s life was in danger, he was the only man he trusted to protect her. Because those chasing her would have to kill him to get to her, and Blackcat did not die easily.
TBR: Are you a plotter or pantser?
LaVerne: Oh a pantser. My ideas come to me in a flash. I’ll be going along minding my own business and then bam there’s this character or idea or sometimes a title that will pop into my head. At that point I need my laptop. lol

TBR: How do you develop your characters?
LaVerne: Sometimes the character comes to me first and the story is developed around the character. So I have to work at the plot because who the character is is already there. I need to develop the circumstances of his/her existence.

TBR: Did any music inspire your book? Do you have a playlist?
LaVerne: Not this one but there have been times. I was listening to Billie Idol’s White Wedding once and well ‘nuff said.

TBR: Which of your characters would you most/least like to invite to dinner, and why?
LaVerne: I’d love to sit down with any of them, but I think Ethan would be one of my favorites from Living On The Edge. I’d want to know why he was so stupid as to marry his wife in the first place, and then when he discovered her body to go touch it.

TBR: While creating your books, what was one of the most surprising things you learned?
LaVerne: I’m one of those people who are widely read and know a lot, well about a lot, so far no surprises.
