TBR welcomes Michele Hart

TBR: Welcome to TBR, Michele. Will you share a little bit about yourself?
Michele Hart: I live in sunny Central Florida in a bird sanctuary, surrounded by books on the strangest subjects. Stories are all around me. And I’m lucky enough to have found real love. So life is good.

TBR: Tell us about Gangbusters and where it's available.
Michele: Gangbusters is the 3rd book of I-Marshal Stories, my angels & demons detective stories set in the future. If you love the polarity of good versus evil, check them out. If you love high-tech weapons, futuristic stories, check them out.  http://www.BookStrand.com/gangbusters

TBR: Please tantalize us with a story blurb or excerpt.
Michele: This is Gangbusters:

Daniel Tierney and his fellow I-Marshals take down the organizations producing the most dangerous substance in the Alliance. But reporter Faith Vedder turns up at the worst times, including Danny’s near-assassination. He’s had enough of her interference and requires her source of information.

Faith won’t tell him anything that compromises her Pulitzer-worthy story, not even under the magic of hot attraction. She doesn’t know she’s surrounded by fallen angels at war. Danny’s not finished making demands. She doesn’t understand until a giant, snorting, winged monster slobbers down her back, threatening to flay her.
The gangbusters can’t delay in their mission to shut down gangs until Danny learns the new criminal kingpin of their world is a man who once held Faith’s heart. In the guise of a gangland executioner named Heretic, Danny will destroy him. Even if it destroys Faith.

Angels are watching. Demons are plotting. Faith is the key.

Go ahead. The angels of madness are calling.

TBR: What inspired you to write about the theme?
Michele: I’d fallen in love with myth early in elementary school, and it’s been a lifelong affair. I’d been lucky to study with those who’d spent their lives studying myth and spirituality, so I’d been exposed to many ideas. I’ve written romances based on Greek and Mesopotamian myth. I’ll never get enough of it.

TBR: Are you a plotter or pantser?
Michele: Mostly a pantser. I’ve learned some good plotting skills, but I value riding the roller coaster with the reader and usually don’t know what happens until I’m in the story, in the moment of first creation. I want to be surprised! The characters take me for a journey more than I take them.

TBR: How do you develop your characters?
Michele: I start with an extreme idea, and I study the crumbs out of it. Soon I’ll begin to speculate about those who encounter the idea, its advocates and adversaries. Then I add a hot love affair, and it’s off on a romantic adventure, probably in a strange place or pursuing a weird thing, maybe even running from it.

TBR: Do you have a favorite quote you’d like to share?
Michele: My office walls are covered with quotes, but this one is my favorite: “Evil triumphs when good men look away,” a paraphrase of Edmund Burke’s great quote.

TBR: Which of your characters would you most/least like to invite to dinner, and why?
Michele: I would love to have any of the gangbusters over for my world-ending lasagna. I’d beg him for stories of his missions until he begged me for the key to the door.

TBR: While creating your books, what was one of the most surprising things you learned?
Michele: I’d learned a great deal about gangs, both crime gangs and government gangs. Quite an eye-opener, indeed. The world is run by gangs.

TBR: What's next for you?
Michele: I’ll put out another I-Marshal Story, at least one more single title, and another shape-shifter trilogy I have in my store of stories. After that, I’m evolving into a new persona for a while, and I’ll try something new. Then I’ll come back to Michele Hart and put out another I-Marshal trilogy with a dark twist. Yes, darker than demons.  If I don’t think up another story, I’ll be editing for the next five years. Knowing me, I’ll probably think up more stories. :-)

TBR: Any other published works?
Michele: Explore the I-Marshal Stories, an angels and demons romance trilogy set in the future. Investigate my website for the other books, Vigilant and Luminous Nights.  http://www.michelehart.com/series-i-marshals.htm
If you’d like to stay on Earth but you’d still love a scary mind-control story, look at Mind-Blown. That story could come true at any time, might already be happening somewhere. Feel like laughs? I have a Greek Myth Comedy Romance called No Funny Stuff!  If your tastes run super-hot, I have an Erotic Suspense titled Looks Are Deceiving. All those titles are available at Amazon, B&N, my publisher Bookstrand.

TBR: What’s the most challenging aspect of writing? Most rewarding?
Michele: Patience is the most challenging. I’m a fervor-writer, and when the story stops coming, I know I need to rest and be patient. But that’s when I’m most anxious. The most rewarding moment is when a reader tells me I surprised them, or they never thought they’d like Sci-Fi Romance until they read me. That’s the best thing ever to hear. That makes the hard work worth it.

TBR: What’s the most interesting comment you have received about your books?
Michele: Luminous Nights, the 1st I-Marshal Story, was compared to Bladerunner. I think I went running and screaming all over the house when I saw that in a review.

TBR: Where can readers find you on the web?
Michele:  http://www.ILoveShape-Shifters.com/  Easy to remember, especially if you love creatures who turn into other creatures. Or people who aren’t what they look like.  :-)

TBR: Readers, Michele is giving away an e-book copy of her angels and demons/Sci-Fi Romantic Adventure Vigilant to one lucky commenter... so be sure to include your email address. She'll pick a winner on Tuesday, February 21st and announce the winner here.
Thanks for visiting TBR, Michele! Best of luck to you.
