TBR's first Fantasy Blurb Fest

I'm looking forward to reading some great blurbs from fantasy authors today!

Readers, get ready to expand your TBR list!

Authors who wish to share their blurbs, all you have to do is paste your book's title and blurb into the comments section, and provide a link back to the point of sale.

It's very simple, but please adhere to these suggestions:

Blurbs only - no excerpts, please.

One blurb per author (regardless of how many pen names you have)

The Blurb Fest will end Sunday night, so please don't post after that. Until next time, of course. :)

Look for the next Blurb Fest on Saturday Feb. 19 - Romance Blurb Fest, in celebration of Valentine's Day.

  1. Hoorah! I get to go first. Here's is a short blurb for my fantasy novel, Beyond the Gate, available from all ebook retailers including Kindle.
Marshal Cage Stone and Keeper and Sabelline Shelton journey for days beneath the mountains in their quest to reset the magical seals holding the demon horde from attacking their homeland of Futhark. But they stumble on a shocking mystery of the demonic source and must confront Cage's heritage not only to succeed but to survive. Sometimes the only way to fight the inhumane evil found in the dark places of the world is to become something other than human as well.

For romance writer Jody Feather, love is wonderful—on the page. Her books are instant bestsellers and readers love her delectable hero, Jake Emerson. He’s the kind of man who knows exactly how to please a woman. The kind of man who doesn’t really exist. Or at least not for Jody—she’s too busy writing about delicious heroes to find one of her own.
When a man shows up on her doorstep claiming to be Jake Emerson, Jody’s hormones shoot sky high. This would-be hero is everything she imagined him to be, and when Jody takes him to her book signing, readers swoon. But Jake only has eyes—and compliments—for her. Before long, Jody stops doubting his story and starts doubting her sanity.
When Jake convinces her she is overdue for love, Jody begins to wonder—instead of just writing about adventures, has she conjured one?

  3. Thanks for hosting this! Here's the blurb for my fantasy short story, The Book of Beasts:

Jonur, a biology student at the University of Selath, doesn't believe in demons or magic. He thinks there's a rational explanation why almost nothing lives in the area around Lake Forsaken. As he and his partner collect samples from the area, they become sick themselves. Then Jonur encounters a foreign girl with a stranger book. She claims the area is poisoned and that Jonur and his partner are now affected. However, she plans to use her book to create an animal that can neutralize the poison. Who is this girl? Can she and Jonur work together to fulfill her plan, or will she let him die?

This is set in the same world as my current WIP, Scattered Seasons.

Here's my Blurb for my Fantasy Novella 'Dancing With Fate' originally published as part of the 'Song Of The Muses' series with the Wild Rose Press.

When Terpsichore, the Greek Muse of Dance, is assigned to revisit 5th Century Wales, and help the people regain their love of dancing, her task seems simple enough. She is unaware there is a hidden agenda. Before she can return to Olympus her path crosses that of the mysterious Myrddin, and her heart is lost.

But Myrddin is promised to another. His mind is set on the dangerous task that lies before him, and the woman he has sworn to save. Nevertheless, he cannot deny the growing attraction between him and the beautiful stranger he meets along the way.

Terpsichore and Myrddin face a deadly force that threatens to part them forever. Is she destined to lose the only man she has ever truly loved? Is there nothing she can do to save him? Finally, when all seems lost, in desperation she finds herself DANCING WITH FATE.

  7. Bad Spelling
A klutzy witch, a shaman's curse, a quest to save her family. Can Kat find her magic in time?

If you’re a witch living on a remote arctic island, and the entire island runs on magic, lacking magical skills is not just an inconvenience, it can be a matter of life and death–or, at least, a darn good reason to run away from home.

Katrina’s spells don’t just fizzle; they backfire with spectacular results, oftentimes involving green goo. A failure as a witch, Kat decides to run away and find her dead father’s non-magical family. But before she can, she stumbles onto why her magic is out of whack: a curse from a Siberian shaman.

The young witch, accompanied by her half-vampire brother, must travel to the Hall of the Mountain King and the farthest reaches of Siberia to regain her magic, dodging attacks by the shaman along the way.

    Here's mine for Kickshaw Candies:

Something ancient and buried begins to awaken in the people when they consume his sweets. They remember a life they had long ago left behind becoming their true selves, and a maleficence awakens that had been locked away in forgotten memories. Out of those memories comes the truth of what brought them to the world of humans and the path back to the place they call home. The path to their salvation depends on three of their human-born children, who are thrust into a future of uncertainty as each one discovers the truth behind the people of Baile and the secrets locked within their own bodies and Only these three have the ability to overcome the evil that threatens to corrupt and dominate every living creature, to save not only their kind, but humanity itself.

    2. No, it's not YA, although some of that age have read it. Some readers think it's appropriate for the age group, others don't. I just leave it up to their discretion.

  10. Mind, Body, and Spirit by Ava Donja
A fantasy romance novella available at http://amzn.to/avadonja

Evanesse is a druid dedicated to healing and one with the balance of nature. She joins with a party of adventurers to assassinate the sun elf Magistrate Thassian, a cult leader whose parasitic consumption of magic has made him a very real danger. Evanesse is sure their mission is just and their party strong enough to persevere, but a sense of doom shakes her confidence.

A natural leader and skilled fighter, Malccino is chosen to guide his party through the dangers within Thassian’s fortress. When a fight goes awry and Evanesse is mind controlled to fight against them, Malcinno breaks protocol to save her life. Her mind ravaged by the corruption of Thassian, Evanesse is no longer in control of the desire pulsing through her body. She needs Malccino to be more than a leader, she needs his touch to find release and return to her senses.

Afterward, Evanesse just wants to forget the intensity of her intimacy with Malccino and finish the mission. Malccino’s world is shaken by his experience with Evanesse. He knows there is more to them than warrior and druid, but she is not willing to trust her heart -- that their connection was so much more than physical. He is sure she is his life mate, but she is afraid that accepting him would mean losing herself.

In order for them to become mated in the way of their people, they will both have to surrender to each other in mind, body, and spirit.

Thanks for hosting this. :) ~Ava
